I got this 20 gal hexagon fish tank from a coworker for free, upgrading from a 5 gal for my betta. I know they like more shallow tanks, but it was FREE and I wouldn’t otherwise buy a new 20 gal tank.
The only problem is they don’t have the power adapter for the LED light attached to the cover. I’ve been trying to figure it out on my own and found the manual for this specific fish tank but it says nothing about the light. The light itself says “DC12V 6.5W”. Can I use any 12V power adapter? I don’t understand electrical stuff and don’t want to start a fire or anything, but I can’t find anything on Amazon that has “6.5W” in the description – is this part important for choosing the correct power supply?
Can anyone help me out?

6.5watts is what the light draws this basically means that the power supply must be able to supply a minimum of 6.5 watts which i dont think ive seen one that doesnt provide more. You can use most any 12v DC power supply to power a small led. Likely doesnt even require over 1 amp but id get a 12v 2 amp universal power supply to be sure. Universal so you are guaranteed to have the correct connection.
Universal power adapter kit is what you should google
Find any dc power line that fits that same plug. Double check the borage but it likely fits the voltage requirements.
Also. Take the brand of light and look up on eBay or use google for “XYZ light replacement power cord”. You’ll find one somewhere relatively cheap.
Amazon sells “universal” power adapters with multiple heads. Should do the trick.

Looks like a hexagon top fin from petsmart. I’ve got one at home, I’ll check for apart number when I get home.
Edit: if it is…12V AC/DC Adapter Charger Compatible with Top Fin Fishtank Fish Tank LED Light TopFin AD35-1200150DU Power Supply Cord Mains PSU from Amazon
Honestly I would recommend just getting different light.
These from petsmart are so bright and I don’t like them.
Something on amazon that has a day night cycle is my fav because you don’t also need a separate timer.
