What sized Daiwa regal LT spinning reel should I get 1000D-XH or 2000 D-XH because I’m fishing for stocked trout with lures from 1/16 oz-1/6 oz lures and the rod is the St.Croix Triumph 6’6 light powered rod with the lure rating being 1/16 oz-5/16 oz

  1. IIRC the difference is only the spool. They will be almost exactly the same. If you wanna save .2oz or dont want to have to put on as much line go with the 1000, otherwise go with the 2000. Often retailers will only stock one or the other because they are so similar.

  2. I’d go 1000. I have a 1000 Shimano Sienna + a 6’6″ UL Diawa Laguna rod that I use for stock rainbow trout. It’s so much fun. I believe I have it setup with 8# braid to a 4# fluoro leader. It’s a nice little setup.

  3. I got a 2500 recently for my ultralight and it works perfectly fine. Wonderful reel! Not quite as comfortable as my Miravel, but it’s much smoother on the reel in

  4. 1000.

Daiwa is extremely generous with spool capacity. What size line do you want to spool on it? 6 lb? The 1000 size can take 160 yards of 6lb, which is more than enough for 1/16th oz targeting stocked trout. The 2000 size is 220 yards, way too much.

  5. I have the 1000 and it’s perfect size for small bass and panfish. Great reel. It’ll be perfect for trout. I typically throw 1/32nd oz jigs with it.

  6. For stocked trout get the Daiwa 24 Iprimi 1000 S-P. I bet 99 percent of you never heard of it, but it is the reel that Daiwa made for stocked trout. 🙃

I’d go 2000. Slightly wider spool and rotor means more casting distance and less chances of wind knots.
