My sweet baby Mochi got stuck in this hole. I’m not sure how long she was in there like that. When I got to her she was breathing very heavily. It took pushing and coaxing to get her out. Her poor belly was so swollen, which was exposed through the hole, and her bottom half where she was stuck looked was compressed. She’s been out nearly 2 hours and her breathing has slowed down, but she isn’t doing much movement and won’t swim at all. She either floats to the top of her tank or sinks to the bottom. I have her resting on in a net near the top so she’s able to access oxygen. My boyfriend thinks she will pull through but I am having my doubts. I feel awful even having this in my tank. I’m wondering what I should do next. Is there anything I can do to try to help her? Or am I prolonging her suffering?

If Mochi has a will to live, it’s best to continue care if she’s still taking breaths from the surface. Only prioritize relief over suffering if the condition is terminal is my opinion. I will be praying for Mochi, and you are valid for feeling doubts too. You are doing a good job keeping her near the surface so she can get breaths more easily, and doing all you can!
