Just sharing my addiction. As a kid we had a canoe but I always wanted a fishing kayak. They were just too expensive. I carried that thought into adulthood. The canoe started killing my back. It was unbearable.
I sold the canoe and got a used 9.5 sit-in then upgraded to my first pedal (BKC white camo), I bought a Lifetime (blue) for my kid but ended up using it in shallow creeks.
The BKC couldn't keep up with Old Town, Hobie, Natives so I got an OT 120 PDL. I still have it and love it but later bought a Hobie PA 14. I did so to compete in tournaments (more gear).

It's been a great hobby for six years. I'm totally addicted to bass fishing. It's cheaper than golf and race cars is what I tell myself. I've won a couple tournaments and placed in a few more. I'm still striving to improve. Some of these guys are just hammers and crush it.
There's a lot of pressure in tournaments (gear fails, weather sucks, you lose a big one, you pick the wrong spot) but it's part of the process.

Tight lines!
