Hello everyone ! My fiancé and I are planning to adopt a betta (and some other fishes and snails that will work with our little beta). We bought all the needed things to make them the perfect aquarium. We chose a 67L (17,7 US gallons) tank, with a lamp, a filter and a heater (set to 24°c), the JBL plant substrates and lots of plants and 2 nice pieces of wood. We put the JBL water conditioner (Biotopol) in the water and then (an hour later) we added the JBL aquarium starter (Denitrol).

It's been 48h, we're absolutely in love with the whole setup but a little bit anxious about the color of the water. It looks particularly brown to us. Is this normal ?

We're of course waiting for the water cycle to do its thing before adding any creature to this tank so there is no risk here (other than maybe for the plants ?). We're supposed to receive a water testing kit tomorrow so we'll be able to test everything then but we would love to know what you think, if this is normal, can we do something to make the water clearer ?

Tannins leaching from driftwood! Not harmful, in fact it is really beneficial. Bettas love it as it mimics their natural environment.

If you are looking to maintain tannin levels, water changes and time will dilute the tannins from just the driftwood. You can add Indian almond leaves and rooibos tea to keep it at the same level

  3. what filter is that? i have a tank with a lid and im trying to find one with a spray like that. amazon reviews are confusing me
