I recently was given a betta and some other fish by a relative and had to quickly set up a new tank. (ill be changing the substrate as soon as the new stuff i ordered comes in the mail dw) Everything in the tank is new including the plants, as I didn't want to take plants out of my established tank. If these are stress stripes, what can be done to fix them besides the whole fish in cycle problem.

Also im well aware shes super bloated, she is a greedy fuck and likes to eat all the other fishes food in the tank which has lead me to remove her during feeding times.

Ive also just noticed the peeling paint on this pot and am taking out literally as I type this. I had never really taken a close look at and now i feel super bad.

Lower light, tannins, keep on top up the water changes as you do a fish in cycle, heater…. It’s all you can do

I just notice the part about removing her for feeding. That could be stressful. Maybe a little breeder or something to separate her without full removal
