Warning bloody dead fish

This was probably one of the worst dead fish I ever found in 2 years of keeping fish, I was on vacation and had someone to feed my fish and turn on and off the lights.

I came back to find 2 tetras missing and I couldn't find their bodies until I looked behind the filter intake and holy shit there was an unrecognizable corpse of a tetra, it barely looked like a fish anymore just the spine and some bones left, there were chunks of it scattered across the entire tank, and even a bloody chunk stuck to the intake in the 3rd pic.

It was in literally dozens of little bits that I siphoned out for hours until I got every bit from crevices and in the Hardscape. In the pic you can see little debris and pieces which is the tetras. The tank smelled horrible and I did a massive water change right away. Surprisingly tho ammonia and nitrite were zero on my api test kit. I also found pieces of tetra in my filter compartment, it probably got eaten by the other tetras, which is why it was in the state it was in. Definitely a horrible fishkeeping experience it was so gory I wouldn't put my hand in that tank again for a week

Honestly, that’s 70% of the reason I love my ramshorn “infestation”. If anybody dies, the body is gone in literally a day, and I don’t to worry about touching fish cadavers when I’m aquascaping (my worst nightmare)

You can easily buy a sponge from Amazon to cover up that filter intake. They are cheap.
