Normally, he just coasts through his tank (6gal) and doesn’t swim quickly. For the last few days, he’s been aggressively swimming against the glass back and forth and doesn’t really pause unless it’s to quickly eat.
I’m worried something may be wrong. His tank has been cycled, it’s a normal temp, and I added some stress coat to be safe.
Is this normal?

Maybe the filter flow is too fast.
Looks like hes fighting alot of current, try and create a still portion of the tank or simply turn the flow down if possible. Bettas are still water fish fir the most part.
They prefer longer tanks than higher tanks. They also prefer a lot more plants and hiding places. In all honesty he might be bored or anxious. They’re extremely intelligent and love enrichment things in the tank.
The anubis plant cant have its stem under substrate
I came to say the flow is too fast, but I’m glad to see you turned it down as soon as it was mentioned.
Be really gentle with him for about a week. Low lights, maybe added tannins. Stress can weaken an immune system.
Just so you know, the anubias and the Java Fern you have can’t be buried in the substrate! You can anchor them down with plant weights instead, but the rhizome should remain unburied.
Your flow is way too strong. Bettas don’t swim very well in a strong current. I baffled the flow in my tank with a little chunk of sponge filter. They should never have to swim that hard against a current.
