Hi everyone, so I got this baby betta last tuesday. I’ve never had a baby before so beforehand I did a lot of research..They said to feed 3 times a day. So I did, but I noticed her getting big – I’m sure this isn’t pine coning since her scales aren’t sticking out, she might just be overweight?? What do you guys think and how should I fix this

Edit: Thank you to everyone who commented!! I know now from advice and charts what to do about my chonky girl:)

I’m sorry but she is indeed overweight. Feeding three times a day is way too much. I would go to feeding once a day and fasting one day a week

  2. yeah she’s a chunker lol, i bought shrimp buds for my girl and she ate em all and looked as fat as this. a day or two of fasting should be alright to get her on track again

That betta is incredibly obese! Def start fasting once a week and don’t feed three times a day 🙂

Yikes, this betta is obese. How much are you feeding?? Are you feeding pellets? Flakes? I feed mine twice a day, but small amounts, depending on activity level.

Girls also are full of eggs so they bloat really easily even if you feed carefully.

Fast for like 3 days and then feed some daphnia on the first meal. I include daphnia in the meal rotation (right before the fasting days).
