This is my girl Debra and I've had her for a little over a year. Her water is testing fine, but she looks like this. I feel like she's gotten a little less opaque and more scaley looking, but I might just be anxious. I'm worried because I feel like she's been a bit less enthusiastic lately. Maybe she's stressed? Her tail also got a slightly larger divot in one place which is unusual for her. Maybe she just needs new stimulation or less food but I have to ask just to make sure she doesn't look sick. She's my first betta and she is quite loved. Please help.

Definitely not an expert but I think thats an early stage of pine coning. I see a little but pretty sure once u notice a it, it’s kinda confirmed

I’m so sorry, but to me it does look like pineconing. I have heard of people treating it early on though. If you can I would start a hospital tank asap.

  3. Definitely pineconing. I’ve had fish develop dropsy before, and what worked best for me was a combination of Epsom salt, Kanaplex, and methylene blue. The survival rate is low and recovery can take a long time, but it is possible. One of my guppies actually pulled through so don’t give up on treating your betta!
