This second hand tank has small scratches. I never really was worried about it but now I'm thinking, will it get larger as time passes?

If it’s just a scratch, I wouldn’t worry too much. It’s likely from a cleaning tool dragging a piece of sand across the inside of the glass.
I have a scratch like that on one of my tanks, ten years later it’s not changed
It’ll be fine.
The only time it’s maybe-possibly-but-still-probably-not a problem is with tempered glass.
I have a tank with scratched just like this, hasn’t failed me in the past 3 years
