Recently he started lying on his side a bunch. Fins are torn to shreds but doesn’t seem to be finrot. He has peaceful tank mates, Cory cats. No signs of aggression between them. Water parameters SEEM to be fine but ph is definitely on the low side. I tested ammonia with a liquid kit and I don’t think there is any. Also did a test strip for nitrate/nitrite and nothing there either. I did a roughness test awhile back and everything in my tank seems to be safe but I do still have rocks and a piece of driftwood(all which passed my test, but who knows). Please help as I’m pretty sure he is on his way out soon if I don’t fix this.

  1. At first glance, this appears to be some sort of advanced infection. The extent of tissue lost on the caudal fin is concerning, it’s quite close to his body. Can you fill out the automod prompt, provide some up close pics of the fins, and give a timeline of symptoms?

  2. 1. 10 gallon
    2. Yes
    3. Currently 80.00 but fluctuates sometimes from 78-83
    4. 0 ammonia, 0 nitrate, 0 nitrite ammonia from liquid rate/rite from strips.
    5. Rarely. Every 2 months or so. I do 25% changes and top offs. I use RODI water.
    6. 4 cory cats and 1 neritr snail.
    7. Natural protein mix. From shrimp to caviar.
    8. Couple rocks found in river. Boiled before putting in tank awhile ago. Also mix of plants Amazon sword, Asian fern, but no floaters.
