I’ve seen these swimming around in here for a while now. There’s some big koi fish in the pond that someone released in there years ago. Those koi look more like your traditional carp bodies.
Then there’s these guys, short stocky football shaped 🏈🇺🇸
Are they also koi or are they just gigantic gold fish?
Can someone help ID?

Edit: you can tell the difference between them and Koi because Koi have barbels (thick whisker/feeler things) around their mouth. Plus body shape as you noted but that isn’t reliable. Barbels or lack thereof is the way to tell for sure.
I am not a expert. But a lot of times people will dump there gold fish and or koi into a pond or lake. Then they cross breed with carp making these chunky looking gold fish! 😂but to be honest this looks pretty damn close to just a regular over sized gold fish they can get pretty big alone without cross breeding with carp. In the right habitat. Happy fishing !
I would have not put it back they are an introduced species and may damage the pond system

The way you are holding it in shallow water makes me think of it as a toy car but a fish. Super funny to me.
