Hey all!

Thanks so much for all the feedback on my previous post.

This is a scale design we have been working on, it has some great features like being fully waterproof, floating and has a battery built in that can charge small electronics like a power bank.

I'm looking for feedback mostly on the design/ergonomics. Positive, negative, anything you can give me. Absolutely no hard feelings if you hate it or love it.

  1. Bulky-Machine-6295 on

Why is it circular and how big is it? It looks like a great idea but wouldn’t it be easier to make a typical scale with a rectangle battery inside? The only problem I see with it is that you’re wasting storing space in a bag with it being a circle. Genuinely curious from a design prospective it looks pretty neat!

  2. Is there a way to use this that won’t get a public indecency charge?

And how are women anglers meant to hold it?

  3. Assuming the ring is going to be reinforced to act like the handle of the scale, it’s awesome!! Very ergonomic. Great use of space. Is there a tentative price yet?

  4. The question you need to be asking yourself is what problem with current scales are you trying to solve here? The shape takes up unnecessary space, ergonomics are a non-issue, built in battery means the entire unit is disposable when it starts to fail, on-board charging is an unnecessary feature, there’s no way you could produce this and be competitive with the dozens of other scales on the market, it doesn’t appear to have a memory or cull function, and theres no way an exposed USB plug will never be affected by corrosion,

  5. I’d want a much wider (more open) hook or even a clamp instead. This one looks like it would be pretty hard on a fish’s jaw.
