Let’s say hypothetically that someone purchased this as a tank stand for a 12g long because it was rated for 220 lbs, but now knows that this was not a wise decision and cannot return it. Would that person per se be reasonably safe taking out the drawers and just adding a couple center supports from the top to the floor? I understand the main concern is bowing in the middle

I think that’s going to be very easy to tip over
if you want to keep a tank on that you’ll probably going to have to bolt it to the wall, that’ll fall over very easily otherwise.
