I just watched this too. Am in England. It’s worrying.
Also as someone who keeps Hamsters, some EU countries recently banned the ownership of Dwarf Hamsters. That’s HUGE and really scary.
I do think we need to work out legislation to protect animals; but this is not it. And it’s worrying because IF they bring it in; it means a lot of the breeding of these species will go underground. That would be even worse for the genetics/welfare of animals.

  2. I see a lot of content posted here about legal regulations, ususally produced by aquarium hobby content creators and I highly encourage each and every person who cares about this to actually look at the proposed bill before bringing out the pitch forks and torches.

Usually, this type of content is thinly veiled rage-bait.

  3. We just need to make sure that of course rare fish are regulated and fish shops actually sell fish to people who have some semblance of knowledge and research in the hobby. The first advice I ever had in a fish shop was that if a Betta goes in last into a community tank it will most likely be fine. I mean some might be ok, but that’s crazy advice to give to a beginner who knew little.

A source linking to the proposed law would be nice. Helps look at it and understand what it entails. Something to be cautious of for sure
