Hey guys, somewhat novice kayak fisherman (mostly wade/fish from shore). I recently came into ownership of this hobie mirage classic for $50 bucks, and have taken it out a couple times to the mangroves of Florida.

Would love for input on what I can do to make this setup better for fishing. I have a feeling this is probably not a kayak usually used for fishing, but its pretty lightweight for my civic and I enjoy the foot drive.

I was considering adding a stadium seat but was worried it might make the vessel unstable due to how narrow it is (I'm 5'8 180lbs for reference).

Other things I was considering was possibly a fish finder or even a trolling motor that fits into the pedal slot, but would love your guys' opinions on these and any suggestions on other things that would make my fishing experience better.

The biggest thing is whether you like it or not. If you’re comfortable and you catch fish keep it until you really know what you want. I’d say go a year or so before making major changes like a trolling motor or another kayak.

Don’t add a stadium seat to that thing. It’s too narrow.

Add some tracks where you want to mount some gear.

A Scotty Mount transducer arm and Garmin Striker 4 plus would be a great start for a fish finder. Get a 10 amp hour Goldenmate or Dakota lithium battery and a Harbor freight Apache case to put it in. All in you’re looking at $300 and it weighs about 4 to 5 lbs.
