

This past Friday morning, I caught Redfish and Speckled Trout in lower Alabama on Dauphin Island. Friday night, my dad and a few of my buddies spent the night on the river and we caught a bunch of freshwater drum, catfish, and bluegill. I bleed all my fish, regardless of species, and they immediately go on ice. I cooked blackened redfish and slid a few freshwater drum in the mix as well. NO-ONE could tell the difference between the two. I’ve heard all my life that freshwater drum are “trash” fish. My family has always eaten drum and this is the first time we’ve had “outsiders” taste the fish and they are now convinced. What do you think? Do these fish taste the same or atleast similar??
