These are my 3 fish tanks. I have 2 10 gallons and a 25/30 gallon vertical. I’m trying to find a good priced horizontal for my 25 gallon instead but it’s a process. It’s better than the before photos. Any KINDLY worded advice is appreciated ❤️❤️❤️
Please note that I got the 25 gallon as a rescue on Facebook marketplace and I took a photo before I took it home.
Before photos all contain gravel
After photos all contain sand
I didn’t know gravel was as bad as it is however the remaining fake plants are there as placeholders because I can only spend so much money a paycheck. I am a single mom in California and my daughter and I love animals and try to do our best by the ones we take home ❤️❤️
In the tanks we have
Sailor my betta
My 4 mollies (Gandalf bilbo feeley and keeley)
And then the rescue tank has 10 tetras 5 Otto’s 1 MINI pleco 1 platy. I added the bottom feeders but the tank came with the tetras and the platy.

These all look fantastic honestly! I think as long as its not *all* fake, the plastic stuff mixed with real plants gets the job done just fine, especially when you’re trying to save money. Plus the fake stuff still is a good growing surface for beneficial bacteria.
Looking good! I’m looking for a 20 or 29 long to switch to from a 20 tall. I’ll be switching to fine gravel or sand, gonna research. And I’m slowly switching to all natural things so I think it looks amazing! I’ve been learning over the course of like a year and a half
Honestly the fake plants are not bad. They are good growing surfaces for beneficial bacteria until you can get real plants. People who say oh you only need real plants are quite honestly jackasses. Plants are expensive and you have significantly improved the setups already.
Excellent glow up!👌 They look lovely.
I was really confused for a moment before I read your description that it was three different tanks. Looks like you’re making great progress.
If there’s way less plastic plants then its a huge one
If not I’d recommend replacing some
I really love them!! Your stem plants will fill out the tank in time and you can have even more plants. Great job!!
Love the decision to get rid of the colored gravel. Gotta start somewhere. I’m pretty sure almost all of us started out with colored gravel. lol Great job!
The rhizome (stem like part) for the Java fern shouldn’t be buried! It’s an epiphyte plant which ideally should be attached to rock or wood. Only the roots can be buried. If the rhizome stays buried, the plant will eventually start dying. Also, you should get a prefilter sponge for Sailor’s tank and make sure the filter flow isn’t pushing them around too much. Prefilter sponges can help prevent injuries! Also, make sure all your heaters stay fully submerged at all times. The heater in Sailor’s tank is a bit above the water line which can lead to it being less accurate or even malfunctioning.
