Hi guys. This is not a brag. I have been a serious fisherman for 55 years. I have friends that are rod builders and work for companies like Daiwa and Penn. I use old fiberglass rods for everything under 50 lb line. I have Sabres, seekers and cal stars from when I was in high school. I even have the flimsiest 2 lb trout rod (Sabre). They are better feeling than an ugly stick. My heavy tuna sticks are Rainshadow. They are super strong and actually fight back as you fight big fish. Fiberglass won’t pull back. Won’t break either. I caught a 160lb bluefin tuna on a 30-60lb 50 year old rod. You can find them on FB marketplace. Garage sales. Like $100 tops for a rod that will last you for the rest of your life. These new composite rods suck. I won’t build one. If you fish freshwater trout, you don’t need fancy reels. In the ocean it’s the opposite. The higher end reels have bearings that are sealed. I also service my reels myself. Ask away? If you want them fancy, get a rod builder to remake them
