This is a tank with ~3 gallons of swimming space (where I have it filled to) and a bunch of filter media shoved in the back. There’s a betta at the pet store my friend has that’s been there in a cup for 3 months now and no one wants him. Should I go get him? This would be temporary and better than the cup since it has filtration, heating, and live plants, driftwood, and botanicals. (I’m going to add more botanicals and some leaf litter as well)

yes!! as long as you plan to eventually upgrade to the 5 gallon minimum they require, this absolutely would be better than a cup 🙂
Please don’t let them stay in the cup, this 3 gallon is a better “studio apartment” dealio . The 5 gallon is the current goal but this 3 gallon is waaaaaaaay better than the cup of despair 😩
