My buddy and I have recently begun to do some trout fishing in Wisconsin. So far, it’s been just Panther Martins on spinning setups. He’s started to fly fish just this last week and I have a cheap setup I bought to learn on, but haven’t gotten out to try it yet.
But I found this seemingly high-quality reel at a garage sale and had a gut feeling it’s a good one. Garage sale had a bunch of vintage fishing gear at it, and it says LL Bean, which is a brand that at least used to be high quality.
I can’t find anything online about this reel and am wondering if it’s a good one. I’m planning to hold onto it at least until I give fly fishing a try and know if it’s my thing or not

It’s worth 40$ all day long anyday. It’ll hold line and fish any trout you need it to.
Now to find matching aviators and you’re all set !
Well, you can 10x your money if you wanted on eBay lol Super cool take it out on the water!
Be warned, I tried fly fishing back in December and haven’t put it down since. Ive been chasing bluegill and bass recently as its warmed up.
It is essentially an islander fr2
