What power rod and size reel? It looks like it might be a medium heavy rod and size 35 reel.

  2. Is that the Presedente combo? Nice I’ve got the Trion combo and it’s great. No advice. I’m new too. Just giving an upmost for my Pfluger brethren.

First combo in 20 years and you could have done a lot worse. I have one of these too. Great all purpose combo.

All depends on what you’re fishing for. I have the president 25 combo and love it.

That’s a good choice for a first combo! Get some 15 lb braided line on it.

  6. I did the exact same thing as you. It’s been about 20yrs since I’ve been fishing and I went out and bought the Pflueger President combo but mine was the 4’8” combo.

I use it for trout fishing and I really like it. It has pretty good action and so far there’s no issues with it.

Awesome combo bro. Looks awesome too, I’m actually looking at one for myself. This combined with some decent lures and Florida will be 🔥

This rod is rated for 6-12 lb line, and is extra fast, meaning it is quite stiff and will handle fish best with line on the upper end of the range, however monofilament line on a reel that size gets hard to handle over 6-8 lb test. I would normally use 15 lb braid on that reel (with 12 lb mono leader) but the rod has stainless steel guides, so I’m not sure it would hold up to braid

I would really want this reel on a rod with ceramic guides, but with this rod and reel combo I would try to get one of the low diameter monofilament/copolymer lines in 8-12 lb test, depending on how strong a line the reel can handle without it popping off
