I've always been an anti-trend guy and resisted the chatterbait craze when these first came on the market and got super popular. I used to see at least a few people with them rigged on their rods at crowded places.

Well now the trend has run its course and my curiousity cannot be ignored any longer!

How do you all like fishing with chatterbaits?

Love them in the early spring when the SAV and lily pads are just starting to come up. Running these over the veg gets a lot of bites. I haven’t used them much later into the season when things are fully grown, might try it this year

I love pitching them into flooded trees/brush piles, or around submerged trees.

Put a 4 or 4.5 inch swimbait, early season I like using a white Chatterbait with a chartuse trailer.

White is my go-to Chatterbait color

I really didn’t get it either until I tried it. Don’t be afraid to drag those suckers on the bottom. I wasn’t at first and was getting zero bites, started dragging it across the bottom with enough speed to enable the action of the chatter and the crawdaddy arms and it was like lightning. You can 100% feel it in the rod, if you’ve got a lighter action, when you’ve got the action right.

Chatterbaits have become a confidence bait for me. I’ve been a spinnerbait guy forever (there’s still ALWAYS tied on), but i throw a Chatterbait a lot as well.

The Elite Evo is my go-to. Water temp determines retrieve. Colder the water, the slower you need to work it.

I’ve been trying to catch bass with chatterbaits for a bit and never can, most of the time I can’t even get it to “chatter.” I know it is user error, but it is very frustrating
