recently i have bought my 6 feet tank with stand and i have filled it half way through but when i shake it lil hard i could observe stiff wobbles for sometime and im so worried. i could see some gaps between my stand legs and my floor. this could lead to something bad ? to fix it i have to drain the water again and lift the tank and work ufff… im stressed

  1. Yes, definitely empty it. Make sure the stand is level, mount the tank, then fill with water.

IT IS OF UTMOST IMPORTANCE that you level the stand and have ALL feet firmly on the ground. Otherwise, you’re at a huge risk of having all that water on the ground.

It’s worth the work to fix it now. You will be very mad at yourself if the tank cracks or bursts AFTER you fill it with sand and rock and wood and plants and fish etc. Trust me I very much regret assuming that my floor was level when I set up my 40gal on a stand very similar to yours. My tank wobbles like hell and is on a pretty significant incline, to where my water is visibly higher on the right side of the tank. I am in the “hope and pray” stage that nothing happens but don’t want to redo the whole thing because I’m going to be upgrading to a 75 and more stable stand soon.

Also I can’t tell but it doesn’t look like you have a leveling mat? Don’t rimless need a mat underneath them?

You also probably want a center brace on that thing- who built this?

You’re playing with fire 🔥. Put something under the legs to even things out

From experenced hobbiestl; Take your time, shim or support the tank at every point of contact with the ground. Add the middle brace before fully filling. Its worth not learning the hard way and take a few extra days to set up the tank. If even when supported slightly wobbles I would highly recommend a better stand situation, Water is much much heavyer then it looks and you dont want to loose your investment in money and time.

  7. Even properly leveled, I wouldn’t have confidence in that stand for such a big tank.

Lmao. Dude you gotta have your tank and stand level. Do you have a bubble level? Drain the tank, way less work than the clean up when it fails and all the water ends up on your floor.

I don’t think the stand levelling is the worst of your problems, that tank has no bracing and the glass isn’t thick enough to be rimless. If be surprised if it even holds together when full for any length of time, it’ll surely bow and crack.
