Fishing season really opened yesterday with pike where I live. There aren't many pike in our local waters, but I always make a point of sticking to pike like lures and running leaders unlike a lot of people here. There were a dozen or so guys standing around at the popular spot running their usual bobber and a worm last night on my way home from work.
I went out today for the first time. I ended up just catching 2 smallmouth. Both on my Evergreen Jackhammer special with a Daiwa SV TW using straight 14 pound suffix copolymer line. The lures are cheapo Ali Express Jacky Hammers that I use when I might lose them easily using a 4" zako trailer. 2 little guys.
I'm looking forward to the water warming up a bit more to feel a bit better about taking my kayak out. Water temps are in the 5ish Celsius sort of range that is just too dangerous for me.
Anyone else just have the season opening up for them? The Americans always make me jealous with their year round water.
