Found this reel at a thrift shop for $9.00 and grabbed it mostly because it was a Ryobi. I figured it looked cool and was probably worth the snag.

It says “Ceratec 130” but I honestly don’t know anything about it or how old it is.

It seems to be in decent shape and feels pretty smooth.

Is this anything special or just an older basic reel? And is it worth cleaning up and using?

These reels were made in Japan in the 1980s-90s, pretty cool find! Do you plan on restoring for a display item or using it?

  2. That grey button looks like a flipping switch.

If it toggles with one selection keeping the spool release button (thumb button) from locking then that’s what it is, a flipping switch.

It lets you pitch/flip baits without having to turn the handle to engage the spool, good for those strikes on the fall.

Other than that I got nothing, didn’t even Ryobi made reels, but makes sense. A lot of japanese companies dabble in manufacturing lots of different stuff.

That’s pretty cool.  I would have bought it for that no questions asked!
