I’ve been fishing in the Midwest using chatter baits with a fluke trailer recently and they’ve been working well. I bought the wrong size fluke and threw it on my chatterbait recently, do we think this trailer is too long and should be trimmed or is it fine the way it is?

Nope
Naw you’re fine, I can’t for the life of me remember who but I remember seeing someone recently used big flukes on the back of a chatterbait in a tournament
Actually looks perfect man
I think it is a little too long it dampens the action of the chatter bait a little shorter. You’d have a lot more vibration.
would you use a that fluke to fish on its own? yes? then its not too long. I really like using flukes on chatter baits and the longer it is the better cuz its more action. It may vibrate slightly less but that tail is wobbling more.
You MIGHT get a short strike here and there and it MIGHT result in the tail being bit off, but for the most part I imagine you’d be fine. If it happens more than once though, then trim the head up a bit the next time you rig it up.
Where I live I’d just keep it more compact since we have a ton of small pike that would just love to destroy it (Northern MN), but that’s mostly just my locality.
It’s fine. I have also used a zoom super fluke before and had almost 24 lbs with 5 fish in 1 day tournament
Just add a small stinger hook.
