I was letting him follow my finger and he started flaring when I showed him my nail lol. I couldn’t get a photo of him flaring though 🙁

He may think it’s another fish. Males are especially easy to agitate, and are quite territorial
The black might me showing him his reflections. Looks like your room is darker than the tank?
