Aquariums: Absolute unit of a snail. What species are they?
Do they typically get this big? Or is this guy just a special case

The hobby name is “mystery snail”, but they’re really just rebranded apple snails (Ampullariidae). True mystery snails were from Viviparidae, which often achieve comparable size, but will lack that second pair of tentacles near the mouth — as their name implies, they give “live birth” to juvenile snails, hence the mystery of relatively large snails appearing without any evidence of eggs.
