Hey everyone! Had a quick thought while I was staring into the dewp abyss, I have never understood why these little guys & gals get so much hate? I think they are so unique looking. Every single new shrimplet that pops out is just as cool as the next! Does anyone else have some cool wild types?
Also, don't mind my guppy fry photobombing, they think I am giving them food. 🤣
All the best!

Hard to spot
I love them though
I love wild type neo’s. I have a tank full of them, mixed in with some random other colors too. they breed and have some of the most interesting patterns and markings on them!
People buy glo-fish and put pink gravel and spongebob houses in their tanks.
I think for purely aesthetic purposes, like so many other things lol— Colorful neocaridina shrimp are so vibrant and eye catching compared to wild-type, they stick out more in a tank. Whereas wild-type are more subtle and harder to actually see in a tank. I think they’re really cool and unique, but they’re definitely not as dramatic as the more popular colorful varieties
Breeders are usually separating out the most colorful ones to breed and pass on their colorful genes, so the mixed ones are just kinda seen as the rejects. Glad to see some mixed ones getting some love tho!
They just dont fetch the same price but I wouldn’t say undesirable

Literally just supply and demand. Ppl are willing to pay for bright, pretty colored shrimps. Ppl aren’t willing to pay as much (or at all) for wildtypes.
They are clear and hard to see because of evolution. The whole appeal is an organism that defies evolution. An orange rili won’t blend in. It’s a domesticated color. That’s why it’s popular. They’re considered “undesirable” because they aren’t. They are the most common form.
I am constantly looking for these because my betta and diamond head tetras (2 diff tanks) keep eating the brightly colored shrimps
I have mostly Amano now, but they don’t breed and are not as fun
I mean I’d rather them not be too flashy. Working undercover and behind the scenes to keep the tank healthy and good lookin.
Where have you seen people hating on wild type? I think they’re awesome looking.
I don’t think they are undesirable at all! They just don’t pop like cherry shrimp, and brightly colored shrimp are easily available now.
Well if you can’t ever see them where’s the joy in keeping them? I assume that’s why people don’t like to keep them. I’m not a shrimp keeper but I wouldn’t want shrimp I can’t ever find or see. I had a time even finding them when they’re perfectly in the middle of the frame 😂😂😂
