It’s a 1/16 ounce (or maybe a 1/15 ounce) jig head, the lightest that I could find in store. I don’t like needles as I don’t know how they affect presentation, but again, these were the lightest jig heads I could find. The lure itself is a zoom. I was using Z Man Canada Crawl, and I did get two hookups with those on 1/10 ounce jig heads without those needles. But I switched to the one in the picture (these Zoom lures a WAY easier to rig straight that those Z Man), and I’ve so far got skunked.
I also don’t really know if I’m working the action right. Usually, I’m just slowly pulling my rod up, then let it sink again and reel in the slack, sometimes pausing between pulls. But I really don’t know if that’s the correct way to work it.
Btw, the first hookup I got with a Ned, I lost it. Thankfully I managed to get the second one today, though it was an 8 inch dink. No more bites for today.

Me personally I like it. But my PB is like 5 so what do I know
Isn’t that a weedless jig head not a ned? Aren’t Ned’s flat and round?
Used almost this exact setup today and did pretty well. 1/8 needless Ned and a bandito bug Jr in the same color.
I’d use a proper ned jig, but I love that plastic for a ned rig.
It will catch fish, but that jig head isn’t going to stand upright which it’s the defining characteristic of a ned rig. That’s not to say it’s worse or better at catching fish than a ned rig, just that it isn’t going to present like one.
What are you fishing for?
I’m not crazy about the weed less jig heads. The wire messes up the profile and causes missed fury bites. But my finesse style is to cast past the target point and reel back to the point, alternating retrieval speeds, “feeling” the bottom as it goes and biting where underwater structure is on the way. The weedless heads feel weird as they go through the structure and make things feel heftier than they are. What might just be twigs feels like a branch and what might be thick grass feels like a rock.
It’ll fish, the bass can’t tell the difference
I like the weedless setup like that but I fish a lot of creeks and smaller rivers with a lot of hangups
Me personally I’d cut it in half.
