My betta has been a bit lethargic since Thursday and has clamped fins. He’s been hanging out mostly at the bottom. I don’t know if he’s stressed or sick, and as I’m not sure what’s wrong I was hoping someone with more knowledge or experience could weigh in. I’ve attached a picture of him today when he did swim, and another picture of him healthy.
Bot info:
5.5 gallon tank, heater and filter, temperature is at 80. Parameters are 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites, 10 ppm nitrate, pH is high at 8.2 but we have hard water and it’s consistently been that high so nothing has changed to cause this.
We do 25% water changes weekly though have been doing them daily since Friday in case water was the issue. We use a siphon to vacuum the gravel and get water out that way. No tank mates, several live plants (java ferns mostly), and he has a rock to hide in in the tank.
We feed him a mix of omega one flakes and brine shrimp.

I think it might be a mix of fin rot and stress. I think the stress would be coming from doing daily water changes. There’s no need to do daily water changes unless there’s ammonia or nitrites present. Other than that, my bet is on fin rot because there’s bits of a brown color on the very edge of his fins.
Bonus; he looks a lot like my boy
