Had thought this was a broken piece of jewelry, missing pieces.
Tonight I recognized it to be a mother of pearl, fishing lure/ hook. Not sure of age. But I’ll look at tool marks with a jeweler’s loop. Checking out the holes and maybe determining what was used to make them. Not sure about the thread either, could be silk.
I may try to refurbish it a bit and display.
I could restore to function and try for a ling cod or rock fish here in central California or Baja next year or three.
