(first two before: second two now)
This is opi, I got him about a month ago and his fins looked like they were supposed to. Within the last week it looks like his fins are being ripped. There is no darkness around the edges, but I want to rule out fin rot before I change up the scape to include less sharp objects. He lives in an 8 gallon tank, 15 gal sponge filter, with about 10 shrimp. The tank has been set up about a year, containing only shrimp for that time.
water parameters are consistent:
nitrate:0-10
nitrite:0
hardness: 50-150ppm
ph: 7.6
water temp: 76°F

Could be fin nipping, give him some tannins and add some hornwort to float in the top and see if it gets a little better. He needs resting places which is why I suggest hornwort. If you don’t see improvement after doing that for a week then I’d suggest trying kanaplex for finrot in the water column as recommended on the bottle. You can also mix it with food if you prefer that
