I've been wanting to get into fishing, and my grandfather fished for his whole life. He hasn't been able to fish for a few years now, but still had his old gear. He sold me 3 rods (2 Rhinos and a Zebco), a FannyPack filled with miscellaneous goodies and 2 FULL Tackleboxes for $500. He really loaded me up with supplies here! I'm a little overwhelmed! Of course the rods will need to be freshened up, but overall I'm thrilled with what all I've got here! What do you folks think?

Damn man, boomer greed knows no bounds. Toss all the line, and the reels, in the trash. The trout and bass lures would cost you about $5-$10 each, so maybe you did okay there??? But, your grandad should give you some money back.
Well the deal is done and I doubt you’re going to ask grandpa for his money back, but yeah… definitely not a good deal. For the same amount, you could’ve gotten new set ups and all the gear you could need to get started.
Having said that, you have some family heirlooms that are pretty cool, at least in the rods. Some of the lures you got are definitely useable, the hooks are still good and the leader probably held up fine. You might want to consider just getting a new light or ultralight rod.
Like 40$ worth of old fishing equipment. The little spinners are great tho they catch almost anything
