I've been wanting to get into fishing, and my grandfather fished for his whole life. He hasn't been able to fish for a few years now, but still had his old gear. He sold me 3 rods (2 Rhinos and a Zebco), a FannyPack filled with miscellaneous goodies and 2 FULL Tackleboxes for $500. He really loaded me up with supplies here! I'm a little overwhelmed! Of course the rods will need to be freshened up, but overall I'm thrilled with what all I've got here! What do you folks think?

Your grandfather took advantage of you, badly… I wasn’t close with my grandfather but I’m sure he would have gave me his old stuff if I asked.

BUT. I doubt you could have bought 3 rods and those lures for $500. Could have gotten 2 decent rods and a handful of lures tho. It will catch fish, but I’d ask him for $300 back lol…

Definitely not worth $500 but worth the memory of starting your fishing gear supplies with your pops gear. At the end of the day it’s priceless, take good care of it

You got scammed by your grampa tbh. On facebook marketplace he would have struggled to get half that amount of money XD

  4. Grandpa charged you for his sentimental value. He took you for a ride with that for sure.

I have some Rhino stuff. I still use one of the rods and they are built like tanks. Looks like you are taking guff about grandpa seeing you coming but it seems to me you were able to help him out and he gave you some of his stuff that you will have for you. I have none of my grandpa’s tackle but I have some of my dads and it is kinda special when you use it. I don’t think you got hurt if you look at it as what it would cost to replace all that today. Those small rooster tails are going to set you back $7-$9 a piece today. I hope you catch your limit with that stuff.

man, that is depressing as fuck to me. i could never imagine paying my grandfather wanting me to pay him for anything of his especially not hobby stuff. also a bad deal.

Your Grandad should have gave you All of this stuff for Free, You’re supposed to pass fishing down to your kids and grandkids, Not take advantage of them, smh

Everyone has said it already, but imma say it too. Bro ripped you off hella. I got passed down both my grandparents stuff but good lord they would have never charged me, much less $500 for vintage gear. Most of the lures look solid and should work fine. Can’t speak to the rods.

  9. Damn this post hurts. My most cherished possessions are my grandpas old tackle. He would never monetize anything I wanted from him especially his fishing gear. You’re going to see a lot of comments here saying the same and it hurts me for you to have to realize this.
