I got my little boy just 4 weeks ago and added him to an established tank. I had sort of let go of the tank when my last Betta suddenly passed so there was a lot of algae and my anubias has rotted so to solve the issue I got 2 dwarf otos and a few new plants. They seemed to be doing okay with my Betta (Pomo) chasing them a bit. But they cleaned up all the algae so I gave them small broken pieces of algae wafers but they didn’t eat it and it’s lying at the bottom of the tank. Today morning I see white spots on Pomo and his upper fin also seems a bit frayed. ChatGPT says it’s early stage ich but I wanted to confirm this and also what should I do to treat him. I’m starting to feel anxious and low again because I just lost my last boy a few months ago 😞

i was just doing some reading up, as i’ve never seen this on my betta so i can’t speak from personal experience, but i don’t think it’s ich. ich looks like tiny little white spots all over. the spot on pomo almost looks fuzzy? some articles said that could either be a fungal infection or columnaris. again, i personally don’t know for a fact. how are your otos? do they look like they have anything on them? is pomo or your otos moving slow, or not really eating?
That is odd… is his dorsal fin gone or iljust lower on his back? It… almost looks like an injury… a burn or something. Is there anything in the tank he could get stuck on or in? Is there a heater he could have burned himself on?
I also agree with u/OutrageousEssay1817 (… i need the story behind that user name hahaha) and it could also be a fungal infection. Solid advice from them either way to isolate this guy and get some meds on him. Keep us posted, yeah?
Also can I use paraguard along with this or will using everything cause him harm
