I’m really into bank fishing. I typically walk up and down and fish a certain area on the bank. Right now I have a sling bag tackle bag and after a few hours of fishing and carrying it around, my shoulder becomes fatigued and sore. It also makes casting slightly more difficult, but it doesn’t really interfere. Yes, I do just drop the sling bag on the ground when I’m standing and fishing one area, but I typically like to be more on the move. I’m kind of thinking about getting a small fanny pack style tackle bag, but I’m not sure if that would he uncomfortable to wear constantly, and it would probably be harder to take on/off than a backpack. So I think I’m now interested in a small and lightweight but solid backpack made for tackle storage. I’m looking for advice and suggestions for solid backpacks or other options. I’m attaching a photo of a backpack I’m currently interested in. I’d like to be in the $50 range but I’d spend more on a really solid unit.

If you want KastKing – go with the BaitSpace…it’s the one I have and it holds a ton, especially with the outside mounting bait binder.

  2. I have a very similar bag from Kastking and its fairly bulky. I would not want to fish wearing it, especially with a couple of trays.

They make some smaller sling bags for this that can hold 1-2 trays and misc items though i cant endorse any. This is one:

Evolution fishing largemouth 3.0 bag. Comfy. Carries a ton of stuff. Smart design. Comes with 3 3600 tackle trays. 85 bucks with code trf2026. I have this bag and love it

My only criticism is the zipper is a little sticky so use 2 hands to open the main compartment.

Those rods on the side will catch tree limbs and you will end up not using them at all when bank fishing.

Regular backpack, lots of pockets will be more than enough.

  5. I vote for the tactical fanny pack. That’s what I use for bank fishing and it’s excellent for carrying the essentials. I normally carry my scale, pliers, license, a few small hard case with terminal, a medium sized hard case with hard baits, and a few bags of soft plastics. I use the bungee on top to carry extra soft plastics or other lures I expect to use if the one I initially tied on isn’t right for the conditions I expected.

It never gets too uncomfortable and I can always unclip it and put it down if I wanted but I’m usually moving spots.

I have a pack that’s pretty good but I wish I would’ve bought one that holds tackle flat which I would highly suggest op

I have had the Spiderwire for years. Really handy with all the extra buckles for nets, water bottles, etc. Tons of storage. I like it because it has a top section I can put my camera gear, hats, snacks or anything I want to keep clean in, and two bottom compartments for tackle boxes, bait or whatever else. I think it was like $60 back then but it might be more now.

  8. Tbh pretty much all fishing bags regardless of price have terrible shoulder straps. You are better off finding a comfortable backpack that can fit what you carry.

I have an Aftco backpack that is pretty lightweight and comfortable. As long as I don’t overload it, i can wear it while fishing. The tray goes in vertically, so sometimes it’s slightly annoying to have everything shift, but i’m kind of particular about having everything in order.
