Can anyone let me know if this is normal? I try to take the line out from under the reel and so much more keeps coming out and I'm not sure what I'm doing here. I just don't want to accidentally break anything..

Take the spool completely off and get it all out. You probably got a bunch of line tangled in there at some point

Unscrew the drag knob all the way, this will allow you to remove the spool. Remove any line you see and replace the spool, screw in the drag knob.

I just did this yesterday. Unscrew the drag/tension screw completely and undo the tangle and put it all back together. Should take 2 minutes tops.
