I’ve had my tank for about two years now, and recently my ammonia levels spiked to around .25 ppm. I went to my LFS to buy another panda cory because I only had three left in my tank, and I also bought four julii cories. Prior to buying them I only had the three cories, four mollies and four guppies. The panda cory I bought ended up being extremely pale in comparison, and passed away. I exchanged the fish and treated the tank with Melafix, but that unfortunately wasn’t solving the issue and I ended up having two cories and two Julii’s pass away. Now, I’m wondering if my ammonia levels look like it may be at 0, or if it still picks up slightly green to anyone.
Also… my tank is a 20 gallon long. I would love to know if I’ve overstocked my tank? The mollies were given to me because a friend could not sufficiently care for them and only had a 10 gallon, but I’m starting to think I might have too many fish for my tank. When I originally researched, I was reading that I could have around 8-10 of a smaller fish with a center piece fish and bottom feeders, but I didn’t want a center piece fish, so I just got guppies and cories. However, with the addition of the mollies, I am not sure how many of each fish I am okay to be keeping in the tank. It is planted and does have a decent amount of hiding spots, I just didn’t realize how big mollies got to be honest! To summarize, the tank CURRENTLY houses: 4 mollies, 4 guppies, 2 panda cories, and 2 julii cories. I know I am going to have to get more cories- so I wonder if I should be rehoming the mollies.
