I got this betta fish for my daughter and I want to make sure I am doing what I can to keep him happy, she is really attached to him.
He is in a 10 gallon tank with a heater and filter. I did test the water but I just learned about cycling so hopefully all stays good. I also got a bunch of plants but I have no idea what I am doing, I just put them in there. It does seem a little bright so I ordered some floating plants that should be here in a few days.
We put 3 neon tetras, 2 small catfish, and a snail in there so he can have “friends”. So far he doesn’t seem bothered by them.
Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!!

He looks good to me, I just want to let you know those plants cannot be planted in substrate. Those are anubias and Java fern which are called epiphytes and they grow with their roots attached to rocks or wood, not in substrate.
If he’s wandering, he’s happy. If he’s at the bottom of the tank, he’s depressed.
He ain’t gonna tell you.. but there will be signs.. 😂
