Here's my quite awful first go at the dry fly. I had lots of fun with Pheasant Tail nymph and its variants, it gave me great results for pretty much every active fish in the water. Now I wanna start dry fly fishing.

What pattern would you recommend that generally works for many fish species in many different waters? I would use it in both still water for coarse fishing and perch, and also for some river fishing, mainly for chubs.

Thank you!

There are caddis variants that are super easy to tie that just have a simple dubbing body and then polypropylene yarn wings. Catch great for me in brown and green colors. Looks like a lot of different bugs

  2. John Gierach liked a parachute hares ear with a chartreuse thread rib. The thread rib could be whatever color you feel like, eg brown, purple, etc.

I’d recommend a X Caddis. Super effective and on the easier side to tie.

    Adams or parachute Adams.

    And an EHC.

I’ve probably caught more trout on those two flies than the sum of what I caught on all other patterns.
