Found an old G Loomis IMX in my father’s old stuff and from what I’ve researched it’s a very high end product and worth a lot. I attached pictures of the model, and also the only issue I noticed. Is that something that needs repairing or just cosmetic?

You could probably just put some epoxy on that and it would be fine. You could also easily repair it with some epoxy and thread.

    Rewrap and epoxy.

Fairly easy to do. Definitely dont need to pay a shop for that.

Loomis has a pretty good warranty, depends if registered and wouldn’t disclose it was your dad’s rod. As far as fix you can rethread it entirely or hit it with a 2 part epoxy or even a sturdy clear nail polish (needs to be a type that dries hard af, not soft, but even that could do) uv ones are pretty decent and fast now. Could also do certain super glues (I think it’s a loktite fine application gel one that dries and stays clear almost like an enamel that I tend to go with …gorilla makes some too but I’m not a fan of their necessity to be wet, or it’s springy..or outright foamy.

Or take it to a repair place, try to sell it, whatever. I’d prolly just keep it and touch up that one eyelets threading so it doesn’t split worse… but I’m lazy like that 🤷‍♂️
